Breastfeeding Awareness Month Guide 2022
Metro Mommy Agency is honored to be a part of BreastfeedMiami, a community collaborative to educate, support, and promote breastfeeding. Our work includes advocating for Jasmine Project participants and our clients, encouraging all families throughout Miami-Dade County to breastfeed, and celebrating National Breastfeeding Awareness every year in August.
Check us out at our table with giveaways or listen in as we offer expert knowledge on panels. We love engaging with the community at these amazing events happening in South Florida. Hope to see you there!
- 8/6/2022 Saturday @ 9am-2pm 11th Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Family Day
- Location: Doral Legacy Park, 11400 NW 82nd St, Doral, FL 33178, USA
- Description: Metro Mommy Agency will table and participate in an advocacy panel for parents and caregivers to discuss how families can be empowered to breastfeed in any setting. Plan to have lots of fun at this family-friendly event to be held indoors with the Latch On, a health & Safety expo, parent workshops, and children’s activities including an indoor and outdoor playground and splash pad. And let’s not forget the one-of-a-kind “Art of Breastfeeding” exhibition highlighting art created by local artists displaying the love of breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and pump feeding.

- Location: Center for Arts and Entertainment 4800 Palm Ave, Hialeah, FL 33012
- Description: Metro Mommy Agency will be in a panel to share more about support and services. We love tabling and teaching at this event. The Community Baby Shower was created to provide families with items necessary to support their babies and those items they may be challenged to get on their own. - 8/6/2022 Saturday @ 9:30am-11:30am Broward Healthy Start Coalition World Breastfeeding Week Family Event
- Location: Hybrid event where it starts in person at Herbert Sadkin Community Center, 1176 NW 42nd Way Lauderhill, FL 33313 AND they will also stream LIVE on their @browardhealthystartcoalition Facebook page from 9:30AM-10:30AM.
- Description: Broward County’s 6th Annual Family event is a hybrid event that will include raffles, giveaways, and Preggo Dance. Sponsored by multiple organizations including one of our fave hospitals to attend births at Broward Health Medical Center.
- 8/12/2022 Friday @ 5:30pm-7:15pm Girl Talk Movie Night @ Virtual Breastfeeding Cafe

- Description: BreastfeedMIAMI partners Jessie Trice CHS & WIC will host a showing of a breastfeeding advocacy movie and discussion. BONUS: Art of Breastfeeding pop-up exhibition before the event, refreshments during the event, and participants can be entered into a raffle for 2 prizes.

- Description: Deepen your understanding of breastfeeding in hospital settings and prepare to be successful in the first few weeks of postpartum so that optimal infant health is achieved. Our guest to be interviewed is Nikkishia Smith, PhD(c) MSN, RNC, LCCE of Mama Nikki is a registered nurse who is also a Dancing for Birth (DFB) Instructor and CIAIM Infant Massage Instructor.

- Description: Join Jessie Trice CHS Breastfeeding Touchpoint Program & FDOH Miami-Dade WIC Program at their community baby shower and presentation on theme: Past, Present, & Future of Breastfeeding in Black Communities. A rich discussion of a historical review of the U.S., current disparities in birth and breastfeeding and current efforts underway and future hopes and advocacy efforts will lead into a casual breastfeeding support group session. - Description: Metro Mommy Agency’s Miami MOCHA Mamas will be hosting and exploring the book Magical Milk written by a black author, Nasheed Pollard, IBCLC, to use literacy to support black families, and siblings, and normalize breastfeeding. Register in advance for this meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
